MEYNARDO LB Montealegre, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Brunei Darussalam, together with embassy officials and staff yesterday got a feel of the complete range of fitness equipment at Fitness Zone in Kiulap during a visit.

Since his arrival in April 2015, the ambassador has been encouraging embassy personnel and the Filipino community in the country to pursue a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercises.

“I urge all Filipinos in Brunei Darussalam to take care of their health for the benefit of their families back home, who greatly depend on them,” the ambassador said.

The visit also was an opportunity for embassy officials to meet with Fitness Zone’s Filipino staff, who make up 60 per cent of the company’s workforce.

Wu Chun, Managing Director of Fitness Zone, said, “It is very important for a place of work to have a healthy staff. If you have a healthy and happy staff, they will be more productive. I would like to thank Meynardo LB Montealegre for leading by example and encouraging the PE staff and Filipinos to live a healthy lifestyle.”

Shelley Busque, from Fitness Zone said, “On behalf of Wu Chun, our Managing Director, I am greatly honoured by the ambassador’s visit. I believe that our Filipino fitness coaches and staff are likewise proud as their embassy fully supports their field of work.”

There are currently around 23,000 Filipinos estimated to be in Brunei.
