BRUNEI is
ready to join tens of thousands of gentlefolk worldwide for the Distinguished
Gentleman’s Ride 2016 (DGR2016), a global custom motorcycle event aimed at
raising funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer
research and suicide prevention.
Some 60
local riders have registered for the charity event this Sunday, setting the
highest number of participants from Brunei since officially taking part two
years ago. This year, DGR Brunei received supports from local companies and
have also invited speakers from the Ministry of Health to deliver talks on
men’s health issues.
The
official venue and starting point will be at SAMO Furniture located at Unit No
27, Block D, Bangunan Lim Eng Ming, Kiulap. The event is expected to start by
1pm, with all riders rolling out by 2pm, passing through various landmarks and
places of interest.
For the
safety of all participants and fellow motorists, committee members for DGR2016
Brunei urged local riders to register on the official website
‘www.gentlemansride.com’ or visit the DGR Brunei 2016 social media pages for
the guidelines, local routes and other useful details. Organisers also remind
riders to have a roadworthy and legally approved motorcycle when participating.
All
riders must also fit the ‘style guide’ of DGR – classic motorcycles and wearing
the finest suits. The guide can be found on the website.
“The ride
is free, however we encourage those riding to make a donation to the cause as
well as consider helping to reach our fundraising goals by getting friends,
family and colleagues to donate via your personal fundraising page,” said
organisers.
