Americans
spent more than 13.5 billion dollars on surgical and non-surgical cosmetic
procedures in 2015. New data from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic
Surgery (ASAPS).
For the
first time on record, Americans spent more than 13.5 billion dollars on
surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures in 2015, according to the
American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). Surgical procedures
accounted for 58% of the total and non-surgical procedures accounted for 42% of
the total.
More
people now perceive cosmetic enhancements and procedures as essential. Youth is
a commodity and people are investing in themselves to maintain a younger
healthier appearance.
The most
popular procedures:
- Liposuction
- Breast augmentations
- Tummy tuck
- Eyelid surgeries
- Breast lifts
Liposuction
and breast augmentation account for 40% of the surgical procedures performed.
Procedures that are increasingly popular include non-surgical skin tightening
and fat transfer to the face. New procedures gaining popularity include buttock
augmentation and buttock lifts.
