The French are the first consumers of sleeping pills in
Europe *, the elderly are the most exposed. However, as the High Authority of
Health points out, the taking of sleeping pills is not harmless to the body.
It is preferable to privilege the benefits of plants, a
natural solution to regain a quality sleep without adverse effects.
THE 4 ALLIED PLANTS OF SLEEP:
The Hops has calming and relaxing properties. It
contributes to a deep sleep. Its richness in flavonoids also gives it
antioxidant properties.
The valerian, also known as "the plant of the Arabian
Nights," is an active choice. It promotes relaxation, contributes to a
good nervous balance and a restful night rest. Its use goes back to antiquity,
some Greek doctors like Hippocrates, Dioscorides already mentioned its interest
against the troubles of the sleep. The valerian's active ingredients are very
fragile, which is why it will be more effective in the form of powder or
tablets.
In combination with hops, valerian potentiates its benefits
by helping to reduce irritability and by promoting relaxation and mental and
physical well-being.
Eschscholtzia, a herbaceous plant belonging to the poppy
family, also known as the California poppy, is known to help increase the quality
of natural sleep. It also has relaxing properties.
The passionflower, climbing plant rich in phenolic
compounds, is traditionally used for its soothing effect favorable to sleep. It
also promotes a good and healthy nighttime rest, conducive to quality sleep.
